Energy deficit and energy poverty have become a major obstacle to growth and development in East Africa. In general East African countries underperform in energy access (around 27% average) compared with the sub-Saharan average of 30,5% which can go up (UN Economic Commission for Africa, 2014).
The SUCCEED Network partners met for the last time in their coordination meeting in Zanzibar (Tanzania) on March 15th, 2017, after the International Conference had concluded.
As well doing a review of all activities that had been pending, and agreeing on how to wrap up the project, partners did an in-depth evaluation of the experience creating the Energy Efficiency Units and doing the Energy Audits, led by partners from Makerere University. The discussions provided useful ideas on how to continue developing these units and increasing their activities within their Universities.
On April 4th, 2017, SUCCEED Network partners from the University of Rwanda organised a National Round Table to discuss the status of Energy in Rwanda. This took place at the headquarters of the Rwanda Energy Group Ltd. in Kigali.
The 2nd National Round Table Forum on “Linking Energy Efficiency and Stakeholders’ Daily Activities” was held on March 29th and 30th at Adrian Mkoba Secondary School in Morogoro, in the framework of the ACP S&T project ENRICH & the Edulink project SUCCEED Network.
The 2nd National Round Table Forum on “Energy accessibility & efficiency in Kenya” was held on March 10th at the Nairobi Campus of Moi University in the framework of the ENRICH & SUCCEED Network ACP S&T and Edulink projects.

The 2nd National Round Table Forum on Energy “Enhancing Energy Accessibility & efficiency in Uganda: what energy options should we prioritize?” was held on March 7th at Makerere University in Kampala, in the framework of the ACP S&T project ENRICH & the Edulink project SUCCEED Network.
The SUCCEED Network project will be having its final Coordination Meeting with all partners on March 15th 2017, to prepare the project wrap-up. The project partners will gather to evaluate the cooperation experience of the past 3 1/2 years, as well as the Energy Audits experience, and discuss future cooperation.
The Edulink and ACP S&T projects SUCCEED Network and ENRICH are jointly organising an International Conference "Fostering Cooperation in Energy Efficiency and Accessibility in East Africa" in Zanzibar on March 13th and 14th, 2017.
Key to Energy Efficiency are the good practices that relate to activities and programmes that reduce the amounts of energy used by specific end-use devices and systems, without affecting the level of services provided.
College of Science and Technology, University of Rwanda
Organized in the framework of the SUCCEED Network project, a National Round Table Forum “Energy Access and Energy Efficiency” was held on November 16, 2016 and November 23, 2016 at the School of Science, College of Science and Technology, University of Rwanda.

About Succeed Network
The project “East African Higher Education Network on Sustainable and Energy Efficient Campus Development” (SUCCEED) is co-financed by the European Commission through the ACP Edulink programme.
SUCCEED aims to promote East Africa Universities university campuses as “living laboratories” for sustainability and energy efficiency. Specifically, the project will establish a sustainable campus development platform to foster collaborative learning and action for energy access and efficiency, with the idea of contributing to solve the problems described before. read more...
