The SUCCEED Network partners met for the last time in their coordination meeting in Zanzibar (Tanzania) on March 15th, 2017, after the International Conference had concluded.
As well doing a review of all activities that had been pending, and agreeing on how to wrap up the project, partners did an in-depth evaluation of the experience creating the Energy Efficiency Units and doing the Energy Audits, led by partners from Makerere University. The discussions provided useful ideas on how to continue developing these units and increasing their activities within their Universities.
Partners additionally debated the experience of creating online courses on Energy, agreeing it had been more complicated than initially expected, but believing it was a useful experience which would continue in future cooperations between them in the framework of the newly established "East African Higher Education Network on Sustainable and Energy Efficiency Campus Development". With regards to the Network, the final Memorandum of Understanding was presented by Prof. Bonfils Safari of University of Rwanda and approved by all, and a roadmap for the signature by the Vice-Chancellors of the initial partner universities established. It was agreed that onces the MoU is signed, heads of the Energy Efficiency Units should meet and begin discussions on projects the network could develop and fundraising initiatives.
As the ACP/Edulink project SUCCEED Network comes to an end, the partners all said goodbye, for now. Sure that future collaborations are just around the corner, and determined to continue making energy efficiency and sustainability a priority for their univerisities.
