SUCCEED Network Workshop on Energy Efficiency Audits

The 4th SUCCEED Network Training workshop took place at Makerere University in Kampala, last March 10th – 12th 2015.

The participants (from Makerere University, Moi University, Mzumbe University, Université du Burundi, University of Rwanda and University of Alicante) were welcomed to Makerere University by the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university, after which the workshop was inaugurated by James Baanabe, the Ugandan Commissioner for Energy Resources at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

The 2-day training workshop on Energy Efficiency Audits, imparted by experts from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development of Uganda (MEMD) covered theoretical and practical aspects of Energy Audit Methodologies, Energy Management, Key Energy Systems in Universities. The workshop included lectures, discussion sessions and two practical audit exercises. The participants performed a “walk-through” or preliminary energy efficiency audit of the Main Library Building and the Computer Science Block B Building on campus.

 

 

 

 

 

 

After this workshop the participants will share the knowledge acquired with their colleagues in the Energy Efficiency Units in order to conduct Energy Efficiency Audits in their own universities with the equipment purchased in the framework of the SUCCEED Network project.

A project coordination meeting to review on-going project activities and plan the next steps followed the workshop.
